@Zaro27 - which ones of the factions mentioned above which need help do you know the most?
@Causley - yep.. passion and commitment are which fuel the power.
@bloodtitan - actually, I also need real minor Craftworld and yes Praetorians are Prom's mod project which he is working on. Its all spec'ed out for you if you wish to get voice scripts done. I can provide what you need.

Thanks everyone!

 awesome work Thudo! Hope DoW2 won't draw too much workforce to use those voices in FoK :D

Why would DoW2 do such a thing? Its literally 1/3rd the modding potential of DoW1 let alone the fact 3d models may never fully be imported into it. :? Even after a year since DoW2's release I have even less interest to move to it due to many MANY problems with what Relic did to it but I'm already quoted on those.

Yes because that's the perfect attitude required to make DoW 2 modding possible. A lot of the DoW 1 work was enacted by modders, the only real thing Relic provided was the OE and the exporter.

Anyhow, that's off topic, sorry :)

hehe.. sorry off-topic. Ouch.. Anyway, on the bright-side what we do here for voice-scripts will equate to going into DoW2 anyway so all is well.

Mind you, writing voice scripts then acting on em for almost all War40k characters is all net-new and brings the once-unspoken to have a voice for the first time ever. ie. having the Fallen's Cypher have a voice/personality adds so much flair and colour to a mod project its utterly insane.

Of all of the factions mentioned above, I probably know the Space Marines and Noise Marines best.

I'll give the white scars a shot if you give me a list of what all needs done. I hope you don't need new scripts for all units, but if you do I'll try my best.

I will share all my scripts with the FoK team as well as the finished voices also to ensure FoK doesn't have to work on them so this cuts down time.

So would that mean I would have to change the honor guard script lines into something else? For instance, I could easily make them into veteran marine lines.

I wish to write some voice scripts for the 2 Tau factions, have they already been completed?

Also do we need to voice them after we wrote them? :)

Vehicle: Tau Tetra Scouting Vehicle. A light armored 2 manned "jeep".
Voice: Like all Tau units the voice must be done with an oriental flair, a little jumpy yet confident that what they do is for the Greater Good, voice must be between thick(deep voice) and normal(normal towards deep), not thin (like...Mickey Mouse @_@).

Also they talk with a bit of a radio-ish background due to the fact that they speak through either head-mouth radios or through their helmets.

The Tetra unit also, at the beginning of any selection, should make a *bip* sound as if they turn their radio on when they speak, then a *bop* when they finished saying whatever they wish to say.

Unit_Complete1: Tetra, ready for marking.
Unit_Complete2: Tetra scouting vehicle operational.
Unit_Complete3: Tetra deployed, ready for orders.
Unit_Complete4: Tetra awaiting orders.
Unit_Complete5: Tetra ready to scout.
Unit_Complete6: Engines online, Tetra ready!
Unit_Complete7: Tetra reporting in. Ready to advance.
--------------
Selection1: We are ready to mark.
Selection2: Scouting is our mastery.
Selection3: Tetra scout(s?) awaiting orders.
Selection4: Scanners online, engines reved.
Selection5: We lift the fog of war for the Greater Good.
Selection6: We are the eyes of our Tau'ui. (tau-ui, a military company in an army)
Selection7: We mark so that the Cadre knows where to strike.
--------------
Move1: Engines to full!
Move2: We are the unveilers.
Move3: Maximizing engine output!
Move4: Like Tau we reveal the truth behind the unknown.
Move5: Check the scanner, clear all anomalies.
Move6: We discover lest we die unknowing(ly?).
Move7: Moving to (towards if replaced) area. (Can replace "area" with: location, target, mark, zone.)
--------------
Attack1: For the Greater Good!
Attack2: Fire the pulse rifles!
Attack3: Fire! (Can replace "Fire!" with: Open fire!)
Attack4: Pulse rifles charged!
Attack5: Enemies ahead, opening fire.
Attack6: Pulse rifles are hot!
--------------
Charge1: (Flat Out Speed skill)
-engines1: Engines output maximized!
-engines2: Forward thrust on!
-engines3: Engines at full power!
-engines3: All power to engines!

Charge2:
-jump1: Fireing the vertical fans.
-jump2: We will arive shortly.
-jump3: Nothing can block our path.

Charge3: (Combat Speed Skill)
-engines1: Check your targets!
-engines2: Like Tau we are heedful.
-engines3: Check your flanks!
--------------
Ability1:
-mark1: Marking target.
-mark2: Marked. Open fire when ready.
-mark3: Target marked.
-mark4: He's already dead.
Ability2:
-seekermissile1: Launching Seeker.
-seekermissile2: Seeker missile underway.
-seekermissile3: Seeker target acquired.
--------------
Combat1: Punch through their armor!
Combat2: Tetra taking fire!
Combat3: Take them down!
--------------
Death1: We can't h--- *Explosion*.
Death2: Tactical retreat!
Death3: Engines damaged!
Death4: Fans overloading!

So this is my little example on how this unit should sound. I hope you guys find it a bit helpful. Please tell me if it's good/bad/needs more */needs less */. I can also do the Piranha unit but only if you guys think my example is good. :)

Hope I did it right...

Slightly confused? i clicked on the link to the voices and im wondering do you mean we will have every chapter on that list as a seperate race to play as, or will it be like chapter traits, or we play as space marines and the color scheme is coded with those voices in it if that's even possible. or im completly off and someone can correct me.

yea your completely off there buddy.. Thud doesn't just do voices for FoK he does for many others too. though i don't know specifics.. what im guessing is that that's pretty much like a vault of voice scrips that can be used.
that's what i think at least :)

but what im sure about is that not all chapters will get separate voices.. or that they will be used as traits or anything

You bet. We're almost done but I could always use more script writers to finish it all off faster. As you can see, however, we got A LOT done in < 1 year. Now almost half of all of it is voiced too. :) that's even harder to coordinate but EVERYONE will have access to all of it.

Sorry to reply to such an old topic, but are the deeper techmarine voices available? All the links to them are dead. The high pitched nasal voices of the techmarines kind of jerk me out space marine modus operandi.

iv been meaning to ask you about something Thudo. i noticed a lot of the things in the list has post processing at 0% what exactly has to be done there?

also sleepy, like he stated in his post, asked if there are deeper voices for the tech marine/ artificer marine available as the current one is very un-SM like and annoying as crap. Snax made a deeper version of the voices but all the link are dead.

iv been messing in a sound program a bit and managed to get a pretty nice Space Marines helmet FX going but sadly don't know how to get voices out the game to test it on.

It depends. I use latest of Goldwave, Soundforge, SoundBooth, and Audition but SoundForge has some absolutely incredible VSTs that do some insane sh*t the standard program cannot do. I am allowing jONES1979 to learn what I know. I usually relied on SNAX to do the post-processing but the d00d vanished for months and cannot wait so I learned myself. I did the Dark Angels Techmarine and the team loved it so. I have a ton of batch scripts for each app and know how to perfectly get voices in-game and know what to look for if there are issues. Its just a pain to train other people how to do it while trying to coordinate voice scripting and actors all at the same time.

However, as you saw in that list.. I plan to have all voices scripted and acted by end of year OR early 2012. Yeah that's a lot of sh*t.. waaayy more than FoK will ever need but it'll be always available for FoK team to use. Its real brilliant stuff.

Im sorry I posted this in the wrong thread, I meant to post it in the deeper techmarine voices thread. As for different voices anything deeper then the current techmarine voices would be good. As for particular chapter I suppose Raven Guard or Iron Hands would be cool. Once again sorry for displaced post.

I need ideas for accents for those in that lists. ie. what accent do Raven Guard or Iron Hands have? Standard N. American accents? I need suggestions bad. You'll see that on the list with a "Accent?" marked not knowing what accent the actor should use.

I think Raven Guard might sound a bit like the Ghost unit from Starcraft or at least that's how I've thought of them. The Iron Hands I think would sound a bit like the tech priest though with deeper voices since they are heavily associated with the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Ah but would all Raven Guard and all Iron Hands sound like that? Builders, Squads, Sergeants, Commanders, Heroes, and Vehicles? ;) Also what about accents? All Generic N. American? Chapters like Black Templars, for example, are specifically Germanic and White Scars, Asian/Mongolian. ;)

Im not sure there is a enough information to make an informed call on what all of the chapters might sound like. I guess you could go on the style of names, though it seems to overwhelmingly latin influenced. Personally I think of Space Marines as sounding English since Games Workshop is from the UK. Standard North American works too though.

well these are just suggestions i have no idea what they would really be like just kinda how I imagen them to sound like. also sorry but not sure about what accent they all are so just gonna say roughly what they sound like

Blood Angels - British accent

Blood Ravens - like in DoW2

Crimson Fists - Generic/slight latin accent

Imperial Fists - generic/British, gothic-ish?

Iron Hands - Generic/monotone

Raven Guard - Europian/very slight french?

Red Scorpions - no idea..

Salamanders - like inquisitor Toth

very very rough and probably not helpful i know but yea just trying..

Maybe giving both imperial and crimson fists a gothic accent ('cause they're both sons of dorm) and let the latin flavour for the Red Scorpions, as they assume themselves as being a genetically "pure" chapter ?

And just what do you mean by European accent ? (I know very well what a french accent is  but I don't believe there is one European accent...)

I need ideas for accents for those in that lists. ie. what accent do Raven Guard or Iron Hands have? Standard N. American accents? I need suggestions bad. You'll see that on the list with a "Accent?" marked not knowing what accent the actor should use.

Everyone should be assumed to have some form of UK Accent, UK company and all that. *Especially* in the Guard. Though for Marines... I assume a little bit of a German accent would be good? Same would go for Krieg, obviously. American accents... I dunno, I tend to find them too nasal and annoying, but a bit deeper one could work for Sisters. Tau have chinese accents, obviously.

DE and Eldar... I have no idea. They sound American to me in the regular version (The Farseer especially) so I guess you can roll with that.

I would say UK accents for Space Marines and American accents for the Guard.

But... the Guard have had UK accents in all the DoW games up till now. It's kinda their thing. Then again, that's only Cadians. Some (Like, say, Catachan) ought to have American accents. But Tallarn, Krieg, Mordian, Vostroyan, Elysian... no, accents ought to be more varied.

But since we're talking Cadian here, I say UK. Or maybe Canadian, considering theur inspiration.

I would argue the opposite. I agree that the Guard have had UK accents in all the DoW games, but the Cadian background haves more in common with the American Military than the UK. Vast numerous regiments, with thousands of fighting men.
Then the UK on the other hand has a handful of troops, just like the Space Marines. And we are known to have the best army and special forces in the world due to our superiour training, which roughly matches the background of the Space Marines.

hehe now you know why its hard to pin down accents for those Space Marines, CSM, and Imperial Guard chapter/regiments. ;) There is never ever full consensus in War40k.

that's the problem i have no idea how to explain that, they just strike me as having some sort of European accent. mainly since their battle cry stated on lexicanum when put in a translator detects it as being french  and also them having pale skin and they just seem like a very gloomy bunch of guys with a gritty softy maybe even a bit weezy sort of voice.

and well CF's Pedro Kantor the name is Latin, though a touch of gothic accent would be nice. if not all Space Marines should get that gothic feel.

and yes its very hard  the only thing you have to work with is the chapters history and how they do their things to somewhat be able to guess what they would sound like. some are easy to guess like Space Wolves but then other are really hard.

and CSM? i wouldnt even know where to begin with those guys..

Seeing how the Raven Guard are based off Edgar Allan Poe, you'd think that they would have a UK accent.

To find how each unit speaks is a different matter. You'd have to go to each unit, find their function within the army, and base a voice that you would commonly recognize with the function they have.

So for the vindicator, a tank that's good for siege, the first thing that comes to my mind is the voice of a construction worker which is deep and loud. Combine that with the UK accent and you have a RG vindicator. Tadaa! :P

*slap, slap, double slap*

They're inspired by the Canadians damnit! Not the Americans! Just look at the name for starters! Than read about their world! CANADIAN! Goddamn Americans...

Okay, that was somewhat excessive... Just got a bit too hefty a nationalism vibe from that post. Sorry.

I think I need to put a list showing what Space Marines, CSM, and Imperial Guard chapters/regiments need an Accent decided on. Btw, I've already started Word Bearers, Thousand Sons, and Iron Warriors voicing. All these like Khorne use a N.American accent but personality and FX used is different for each. Word Bearers, for example, use a Priest-like voice combined with a Daemonic Possession which can come in. Thousand Sons are bloody arrogant pompous sorcerers so that comes out well. Iron Warriors.. well being Undivided they are more generic evil.
