the client is completely free and there is no sign-up required
once you've hamachi installed and setup, click the join network button on the bottom right and join any of these:

Due to the limited space please leave Hamachi room when done playing or you while be evicted to make room for people that do want to play.

it should be noted that all the login details are
case sensitive, so you should copy and paste from here to make sure it's completely right
once signed up to the networks, you can co-ordinate games through hamachi's chat function, and games created should appear in your LAN games list. it may take a moment to appear due to lag etc...
for best results i would suggest using DoW's direct connect function, which allows you to join straight into a room. the IP address is the number next to the persons username in hamachi

Using Hamachi in Multiplayer (thanks Raynor! slightly tweaked):
To connect to someone with Hamachi, you take the Hamachi-assigned IP address next to their name and bring up FoK.
Go to Multiplayer, and click Direct Join. Type in that Hamachi IP into the IP Address slot that come up and click Accept. If they've hosted the game, you will automatically join it. If not, wait for them to finish setting it up. If you still have problems, restarting the game also fixes some problems.
On another note, to host a game through Hamachi, simply go into Multiplayer and host a LAN game. All they have to do is use your Hamachi IP to join your game.
Remember though that you both have to have Hamachi running at the time for it to connect.
