The forums are undergoing a lot of changes.

These include:

Guests:
Can only view "The info center" and its subforums for any mod issues and such.
To actively post and contribute you must register on the forums. Registering adds a lot of extra benefits.

Newly Registered users:
You are counted as a newly registered user until you hit at least have one approved post, in which you then become a newly registered user.
You have limited user privileges such as not being able to use your own avatar and limited private message capability.

Registered users get more benefits.

After a certain post count, you get awarded user Titles, Avatars, signatures and the likes.

There is now a 5 minute limit on editing and deleting your own posts.

Questions.
Q: Why was my post count reset? To give everyone a fair and equal footing.
Posts in the off topic section don't count towards your post total, so you will have to post actively in the main forums. Spam won't be tolerated.

Q: I had an internal status, but not any more. Why not? If you want it reinstated, you must prove that your an internal, and you are still actively testing etc. There are currently 64 supposed internals. That will be fixed.

Q: Why was my account deleted? Most likely because the board has shown you as inactive for months. Anyone above 5 months inactivity will be occasionally deleted after getting an automated email alert.

Q: Why was my post/thread moved/deleted?
Threads and posts are moved to go in the right place to be better answered and found. if they are deleted, it means it was likely spam, or it has been better answered. Usually things will go in a Faq. This may not be so atm as the board is still changing a lot. It's nothing about freedom of speech and such, even though i am your local warmaster.

User Titles:

0+ victim of consequence
100+ Meat Bag
250+ cultist
500+ chaos marine
750+ aspiring champion
1000+ chaos terminator
2000+ chaos lord
3000+ daemon prince

I <3 u Horus. Especially the registration privileges. Weeding out the Infernals is nice too. So when do you plan to implement these exactly? I've been working on 3.7 and I'd like to release it with these changes or closely before/after. I'm almost done with ebps, I just gotta add new requirements for weapons and units, then if I have time, make some abilities into passives and I should be done, done enough for a release anyway.

I've been working on this on/ off over the last few hours, as you may have noticed a little bit of a change to the forum layout at the moment. Still lots to do though.

I like the new layout, its less messy and everything has its place. It appeals to the (lack of) neatness in me.

The user access settings will be changed later seperately, possibly tomorrow sometime. For now Its just general cleaning up and rearrangement duties.

I've also reminded over about 300 people so far... So lets see if that brings any traffic this way :D

We still have our existing post counts.

How exactly is that statistic being wiped? I didn't realise that was possible without deleting every post ever, though I'm not familiar with this forum's backend.

more than happy to help test, but is your attention shifting towards dow2 or are you still overlooking dow 1 progress?

Just helps to know is all :)

Also give me bits to test or a list and i'll be happy to, but I think major bugs and etc have been coverd already, if there is anything you can show me or other internals who whish to keep their status what we can revise up on I would be more than happy to start help contributing on a regular basis again. :)

I like to say some minor thing.

I'm not gained my internal status because I'm a tester, or for actual active testing, but because other business (I have the "tester" status for internal access).
My testing posts are from my free will, and not because that's my duty.
So not fair to use the same protocol on everyone.
But that's for me (too), others made promises... what they have to do.

And also "old heroic members", who aren't active anymore from months now, but in the past do a lot of work and testing for the mod, I feel also not fair at all to wipe out (Katie Drake, Dr West, Rocktober!, etc).

They should be honour (guard) FoK members (and internals) for timles times.

There's usually setting on every board or some "auto calculator" That reads it. I can change which forums do accrue post counts, but even if I can't wipe the slates clean it won't matter too much at present.

I'm still a mod leader for fok, just working on other things.

A few recent contributions have been the flamestorm cannon and gk melee weapons. Melooo just needs to tranfer the things to fok from woa.

Everyone is going to get a reset, and not every one is going to loose board priviledges. Dibujante handles the svn access priviledges. Active testers just need to come forward and say so and they will be regranted their board "rights"

the board keeps track of what users are what so people not on the current list can free ride access in forbidden areas..

I was half meat... would you look at that >_>, Ok, added in a few user titles.

Currently:

250: recruit
500: sergeant
750:officer
1000: captain
2000: Legend

Names can be discussed changed easily later.
Discuss.

And It's easier to see how many people are online and viewing the board now.
I visited earlier to find 20 guests :D

Well since we have Infernals, I think it would make sense to make Chaos titles like Cultist, Chaos Marine, Aspiring Champion, Champion of Chaos, Chaos Lord. Team Members could be Chaos Daemons, Mod/Admins as Greater Daemons, retired legends as Chaos Gods.

If people don't like that then we can rotate them per season to a different race. Otherwise, them generic titles look good.

I was brooding that just now on the epiphany seat :P

Ok, The new titles:

0+ victim of consequence
100+ Meat Bag
250+ cultist
500+ chaos marine
750+ aspiring champion
1000+ chaos terminator
2000+ chaos lord
3000+ daemon prince

Though retired people shouldn't be considered a god though. There is somewhat of a chain of command to be had remember :L

I think Dreadnought would be a more fitting title, and we need something a bit more generic for team members. Perhaps "Chosen" would be better and keeps with the theme.

Yeah I have to state right here that I do not support anything Chaos related.

It'd be nice if different race themes could be selected in the control panel so we could pick what we like but I imagine that'd be a lot of work.

Doesn't really work that way :(

But on something Completely Hilarious.... Click members at the top of the forums... and then click sort by post count until the highest is at the top.

How he escaped the post count deletion i don't know.... But i think he deserves the title tbh :L

I vote for chaosy titles. FOR CHAOS!

Or if possible allowing to choose faction, altough that may be too much work.

That would involve adjusting on a per-race basis, at the request of the user.

Which is work. Ongoing work.

I think we should increase awareness of the FoK group a bit more. It's a quick and easy way to keep people interested and increase popularity in the most effective way possible: word of mouth. Having a chatroom on one of the most popular social networks on the internet is pretty significant in and of itself and can offer the easiest possible way to set up games simply by asking everyone who is currently online. Maybe update the Moddb page to include a link?

OI!
What is this, I'm a cultist now? You dare accuse me of Heresy, your traitor scum!? I'd rather blow my own brains out!

Seriously though, A faction themed ranking? I despise chaos! I support the Imperium, and have comprehension for Tau and Eldar (For which I castide myself daily) bur Chaos...

Which is to say, I find it a poor idea to have faction themed rankings. Maybe a bit more neutral? I just plain don't like being called filthy cultist scum. And you'd run into this with any faction ranking. Eldar? There's sure to be some people who find the haughty arrogant bastards annoying. And thus don't like being called after them.

Anyway... just a minor thing.

Horus, I've been thinking. Is there any way of the ranking system to be user preference, like having an option in the user control panel for Imperium, Space Marine, Chaos, Tau, Eldar or whatever.

And if you dislike something so much, don't just sit there and complain like a petty whelp, throw out some suggestions.

There were at least two votes for an Imperial Guard themed rank system.
Considering the amount of ranks in the Guard, you could have quite a few user post levels as well, from Conscript all the way up to Lord Commander Militant. :P

Well, to call some one "meat bag" and such not realy friendly... especially for possible new members. And "cultist" isn't gona make them happier.. most of the peoples.

And yeah, let's come up with a good solution for every one, not yust crying here, I'm sure Horus is open for any good idea.

In a flash, this is my idea! -> Let's use the force organization chart!
It's 40k!
It's "race neutral"!
It's tabletop! (closer to codex?)

All in one! :)

So for example:
0+ (no title)
30+ Troop
150+ Fast attack
500+ Heavy Support (sounds good for really active members, not? ;) )
1000+ Elit
1500+ HQ
3000+ Legendary HQ

Lame. Though I do agree that there should be significantly more titles from 0-500 to keep people interested.

If people need user titles to keep themselves posting, they're not the kind of posters we want, in my opinion.

You know. Committed, dedicated people don't need a short phrase under their name to stick around.

Absolutely.
I didn't want to say this, because most likely wont change anything. Instead I tried to give a more "acceptable" (and non offensive) title idea, if it's going to be happen anyway.

Hey Ho!! Peoples!
Say something about the "Force organization chart" or do something better!
Or you all want to be "meat bags", and lowly "cultists"?

Maybe this section of the forum is out of site for the common people?? :?

I don't particularly like the Chaos titles. I think they're a little condescending towards new members and feel they may act as an e-peen to wave around for the guys with all the posts to their names. Perhaps more civilian titles should be used like Menial, Citizen, Nobleman, Hierarch, etc, with the Moderators being Inquisitors and Admins being Lord Governors.

... How are those even remotely different? I'M A HIGH LORD OF TERRA, YOU ARE A MEASLY CITIZEN IN THE THOUSANDS OF WORLDS I COMMAND! If anything, there's more e-peen in that.

How about Ork titles? Lowest being Grot and highest being Warboss or Gork/Mork? Seems pretty friendly to me

Either start a poll or just let the mod leader definitiely close the discussion (and start a new dictature of titles  ). After all, everyone has its own opinion about why titles should be based on some race and not an other one.
