Hi FoK team

Well is been a while since the schism between MK and Patman, where i clearly picked up a side and decided to leave FoK co-lead mainly because of my disapproval of MK's behavior, management and artistic direction and decided to create my own mod "Purgation of Kaurava" completely based on FoK 1st port to Soulstorm.

However i still hanged around sharing all the models i worked on with FoK since well i absolutely share the Ideology that MK, Medes and Horus have kept of free source mods and the benefits it brings to a modding community, and of course because the fame and respect that the name FoK has won over all these years, being a strong pillar of the DOW1 modding, granting easy access to new and old artists, mainly texturers.

That said, Purgation of Kaurava has been like my personal version of FoK and well im not gonna lie....i wont get anywhere with it. Yes it has some fundamental changes in gameplay that differ of current FoK, but in essence is still the same thing.

Given the recent events of MK handing over the mod to warcaster, due of growing desinterest in DOW1 modding and getting better accomplishments with DOW2 and COH. I propose a merge between my FoK offspring "Purgation of Kaurava" and the current FoK Soulstorm.

Now I know some of you didn't like the way i was heading the mod back in 3.5 and 3.6, as some might say it was too overly focused on making the mod closer to codex without proper balance considerations, I recognize this was true and accept it as flaw i had.

So the Merge i propose is that "Purgation of Kaurava" Art assets be used with the balance and modifications that Warcaster has been doing to improve things up, he's better than me at that, so i wont get in his way when things needs to be balanced.

BTW im not asking to be the "last word guy" nor turn fok into my pet project, i already have purgation of kaurava for that, i just don't wanna see this great mod (FoK) that countless people have put their efforts on it, follow a path of decay and extinguish without a proper final release.

So what you guys say?

Regards, Melooo

I don't think anyone should have an issue with more art assets for FoK. I certainly don't.

Although my opinion doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, I have no problems with this :)

Have fun and happy hunting all.

Most definitely! Indeed one of the pillars of the FoK and the DoW1 community. Should absolutely be welcomed back considering your contributions, olde friend!

A very humble request to considering your 3d skills, bro.

Here are Purgation of Kaurava LUA files and the burned code for testing on FoK

Mod:http://www.mediafire.com/?8tpbgzzztyrwat0
LUAs:http://www.mediafire.com/?9e6ebzm887a5bvr

Change Log
- Tweaked Power and Requisition income
- LP no longer increase Req income
- Powergen near arent required for buildings to function, however they still have building control area
- Most buildings don't have power cost anymore just the buildtime
- Transports reinforce aura also allows upgrades
- Ranged weapons min dmg is 50% max dmg
- Melee system is still the old where initiative controlled min dmg
- Tier 4 added
- movement speeds reduced, infrantry 14, tank 28...etc keeping the ratio of TT speeds
- Chaos has militiamen and undivided legion traits
- Space Marines have 5men squads versions of any squad
- Basilisk and Medusa Start with enclosed crew compartment
- Inq and DE are disabled (i wasnt working on them)
- There could be more stuff changed but arent of much relevance

I need you guys test this and review it for later deciding what to take from it to include in FoK

PS: Expect pink boxes and pink icons since im not including the whole art folder, as it would astronomically increase the file size, is better to keep it as low as 31MB :P its only for testing.

No offense intended Melooo but I doubt much of that set of code alterations will be used, given that they're various steps back from what the team have been trying to achieve.

This is, of course, an outsider's perspective :)

I think his code edits are meant for his own testing. Of course to be used in FoK they have to be adjusted for FoK has unique gameplay requirements.

Those are the changes i made on Purgation of Kaurava, im just putting it here so you (FoK Team) have a look on what i've done as well as test and review it......independently of if they are added to FoK or not.

There might be some of the stuff in Purgation of Kaurava that might be worth incorporating into FoK.

I will be looking at these ideas.

Personally I didn't see the practical gameplay purpose of power generators powering buildings, given how generators lay in our current economic model. This is going to be an area of discussion however, when we get past the Melee System.

I've just recently implemented a melee system that is much closer to the original idea than our prior system was; it's up on the Soulstorm Internal and there's a summary of info here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5506 The short of it is that Initiative is given a share of importance in both minimum and maximum damage values.

I had some thoughts involving Movement, mostly about lowering general speeds and more closely moderating effects that slow movement; this slower actual movement speed might allow for higher HP values again, possibly resulting in a better balance between ranged fighting melee and overall battle time. What with everything else going on though, I didn't think it was a good idea to mix this in too.

I could swear we have "- LP no longer increase Req income" already

Will ponder others for the moment

About generators i completely agree that the "powering" thing does not really fit in DOW/FoK and it was more of a hindrance that downgraded gaming experience, although i liked the idea that powergen increased your build control area, that's why i kept it on Purgation of Kaurava.

I saw the new melee system thread and it looks promising, i havent tested it yet but looks good in the numbers heh.

well remember that i started Purgation of Kaurava not much after FoK's 1st port to Soulstorm and i didn't really kept a track of what was being done here aside some few chats with MK and stuff.

Most of the Miscellaneous changes i didn't include in the list above are for Chaos, now that i think on them, some are worth mentioning like the overhaul of daemon weapons, not quite sure how they are working now, but before in 3.6 the max dmg value was the sum of 10(S+{Sx6/A}) representing the extra attacks the lord might get, this however didn't had any drawback as in TT....so i changed this by adding an ability for each daemon weapon, activated via the same addon upgrade that randomly adds the damage of each extra attack as well as a random health drop.

This particular change makes daemon weapons a gamble just as they are in TT, while powerful they are dangerous for the wielder too, so the Blissgiver wont be a no brainer upgrade anymore.

Did you do anything special with the Bloodfeeder? Arguably in TT it's one of the most useless Daemon weapons due to the sheer chance of being able to roll a 1 on either die.

well the bloodfeeder has greater chance, 33% IIRC, to start droping the Lord's health but also can increase the damage to insane levels.

That's already better than the TT equivalent anyhow :)

(roll a single 1 - BAM NO ATTACKS AND YOU TAKE A WOUND NO SAVES ALLOWED. Ouch)

Just wait until the 6e Chaos codex. Bloodfeeder grants same attacks, requires double ones, and saves will be allowed.

See that is actually okay. I'd go with that.

Anyhow, bashing of the current Chaos Dex aside (always fun), this is getting rather off-topic. Apologies.
