Does that mean that you don't have to do EVERYTHING anew for WoA?..

Awesome.

I wonder how Santos, Corsix and others manage to make such tools...

If you have a model of your own that uses no DoW1 assets, you can import it to DoW2. I'm not sure how much will need to be re-done for WoA, but I think most of the add-on parts such as manly loincloths and ostentatious bling can be imported just fine.

God just hearing DOW II makes me cry i bought it when it came out thinking running bare mininum dark crusade and soulstorm i could run bare mininum DOW II but i was wrong and it even now still sits on my desk unused until i can buy a upgrade for my computor which will take a good bit to do. Enough of my sadness though will it kinda be like Codex DOW II like what the FOK mod is?

DoW2: WoA is intended to be a closer-to-codex experience for DoW2. I'm not sure how much of that is actually possible with DoW2 right now. Hopefully Retribution adds a few more options for modders. This is just baseless speculation on my part, but any DoW2 release is most likely going to be for Retribution, simply because of the time frame needed for a decent release and because Games 4 Windows Fail sucks so hard.

GfWL hate ends here. It's unnecessary, doesn't add anything to the thread and in most cases is extremely misinformed. Thus speaks the moderator.

As for Retribution adding more options for modders . . . I'm unsure of what else we need. We have a attribute-editing program, we can import models and we'll soon be able to animate them. We can drag and drop map archives into a folder without any fancy installation needed.

Oh, and the code itself for DoW II is beautiful.

Not in the squads upgrades department... it could be vastly improved since you can't really have multi weapon upgrades dow 1 style.

I think you can, it's just a bit trickier than usual.

There was that patch that gave Space Marine Tacticals the ability to swap out weapons, however I'm not sure if the UI upgrades slots got expanded. If they did, it could be useful for finally forcing Tactical squads to have one special and one heavy weapon.

Is the DoW 2 engine a true next version of Company of Heroes engine? I.e. can you technically build fortifications like in CoH and pick up weapons?

Bootiful. Finally, a game where I can amass a hueg amount of maps without having a butthurt afterwards.
